2020 Democratic State Convention

This year’s Massachusetts Democratic State Convention will take place on Saturday, May 30th, at the Tsongas Center in Lowell. This will be an “Endorsing” convention, because one of our US Senate seats is up for election this year. Since there is more than one Democratic candidate, each of them will need to garner 15% of the delegate votes at the state convention, in order for their name to appear on the September Democratic primary ballot.

Andover has been allocated 17 Delegates and 4 Alternates to the State Convention.

These Delegates and Alternates will be elected at the Andover Democratic Town Caucus, which will be held on Tuesday, March 10th, in the upstairs meeting room of the Andover Memorial Hall Library, 2 North Main Street. Registration will begin at 6:30 PM, and the Caucus will be called to order at 7:00 PM.

Democratic Presidential Debate Watch Party

Our next official meeting will be in early February, so in lieu of holding a January meeting, we will co-host a Democratic Presidential Debate Watch Party with Greater Andover Indivisible next Tuesday night at Palmers.

It appears that the DNC is still determining the start time for the debate, but past debates have started either at 8:00 or 9:00 PM, so to be on the safe side let's plan on arriving between 7:30 - 8:00. (We’ll let you know when the DNC has announced a start time.)

We will also be inviting ally groups and neighboring DTCs. This will be great opportunity to learn more about the presidential candidates and while getting to know our neighbors and enjoying each other's company.
